Due to our extensive focus on the genre during our initial research, we have decided that we will be producing a slasher film opening. However, we think it would be interesting to subvert the genre, so as to have a promiscuous female killer (the character who, in a typical slasher, would be killed off first). Aside from this subverted element, we would largely stick to the codes and conventions: set in a suburban area, having a masked killer, a close-contact weapon (most likely a blade), a gory death, etc.
Our Idea: Temptress
The opening shot would show a prostitute ('Temptress') walking along dark backstreets in London, lit primarily by the yellow streetlights, capturing her heels (black), nails, masquerade style/doll-like mask -accentuating her femininity and sexuality- as she walks in the rain/cold. A car will then pull up underneath a street lamp, and the 'Temptress' will strut up to the car and lean down to the driver's window; she will then walk to the passenger side, open the door and get in, the screen will cut to black as the door slams. The next visual will be shot from inside the car, showing the car driving along a London road. The screen will cut to black again. The following visual will be shot from the same angle but driving down a quieter road in the outskirts of London, the driver's hand will move to rest on the 'Temptress'' thigh in this shot. The screen will cut to black once again, the returning visual capturing the pair exiting the car and entering a house, the door slam will once again be paired with a cut to black. The next few visuals will be close ups, a tie being removed and a shirt being unbuttoned, heels being kicked off, and then the 'Temptress'' hand running up her thigh to rest on her concealed weapon. Another cut to black will commence, grunts can be heard followed by a pained groan, the final shot will display the man's neck slit and his chest having the word "slut" or "whore" carved into it. The title sequence will then appear, with the word "Temptress" written in the same font as carved into the chest. The non-diegetic audio for this opening will be played throughout the entire sequence, we are hoping to use a slower and minor-keyed version of 'Hey Big Spender' from Sweet Charity.
